The Invisible Realm 3

Updated: Jul 17, 2024

Although we have been exhorted in scripture to focus on things which are not visible to our naked eyes, it should be clear we are to only concentrate on things belonging to God and His Kingdom, as mentioned in Colossians 3:1-2 and 2nd Corinthians 4:18.

There are two sides of the invisible realm. Holy and unholy. Righteous and unrighteous. Light and darkness. Good and evil. Pure and impure. Godly and ungodly. Although both exists in the invisible, we are only told to center our gaze on God’s realm. As we fix our minds on the heavenly, the pure, and the righteous, we can easily spot the phony, unholy, evil originating from the power of darkness.

There is a profoundly telling incident mentioned in 1 Samuel chapter 28 that illustrates how some people play around with the dark side of the invisible realm to their own destruction.

Please read the entire story to gain more insight, but it basically tells how king Saul feared for his life when the Philistines encamped against Israel, and how he went against God’s commandment to consult with a medium or witch to know his fate.

The prophet Samuel, who had anointed Saul to be king, had died. And because the Lord was not speaking to Saul by dreams, visions, or prophecy, he decided to hire a medium or woman of the occult to bring up the prophet Samuel’s spirit from paradise.

At that time, Jesus had not died for our sins and risen to heaven with all the departed righteous saints, so Samuel was in the compartment of hades called paradise. He was not in the section of torment.

The wicked medium/witch summoned Samuel who came up and rebuked Saul for his wickedness, telling him he would die that night along with his sons, and the kingdom would be given to David.

The dark realm of the invisible is utterly forbidden of God all throughout scripture. It is an abomination to play around with the occult or to take part in the practices of sorcery, witchcraft, idolatry, necromancy, spiritism, New Age, satanism, and false religions, or to be entertained by it through media, games, music, or other platforms.

One former Rock Star who played with KISS and other satanically inspired groups shared his testimony during a Christian conference I attended. He said they would get high on drugs and play with occult games like the Ouija board to get inspiration for the songs they wrote. They were seeking to tap into the invisible realm of evil to bring their findings into the visible realm where it would affect those who listened.

Much of what goes on in the world today, emanates from the evil one and his realm, whether it’s godless mindsets and paradigms, immorality, ungodly entertainment or music, dishonest business practices, greed, lust, hate, violence, murder and other unholy exercises.

I was ministering at a small church in Colorado many years ago. Suddenly, as I was teaching, the Holy Spirit made me aware of an occult presence in the room towards the rear of the church sanctuary. I immediately called it out, describing what the Holy Spirit was showing me, and asked the person to come for prayer and deliverance.

A young lady finally came forward and confessed she had gone to a medium who told her to wear some type of amulet on her underwear all the time to bring her luck, fortune, etc. The young lady repented and said she would destroy the item and so we prayed for her deliverance.

These things are an abomination to God because the end result for those involved is deception, eternal damnation, and separation from the Presence of God forever.

Unfortunately, even many Christians are ignorantly opening the door to the evil realm through their TV, computer, music, books and magazines, movies, ungodly parties, astrology, tarot cards, palm reading, and other avenues. They are ignorant of the severe consequences of their actions. The enemy is a deceiver and liar and only comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

We do not deny the reality of spiritual darkness, we just deny its power over our lives and refuse to tamper with it, dabble with it, or partake of it in any way. Instead, we surrender our lives to God and the Lord Jesus Christ who delivers us from this evil world.

In the book of Acts, Luke, the writer makes a sharp contrast between these two invisible worlds.

18)  And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. 19)  Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.

And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20)  So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed. Acts 19:18-20

These new believers renounced their ties with the occult world, the invisible realm of darkness, and surrendered their lives to Christ.

Although they had spent much on these wicked practices (estimates are in the millions), they immediately forsook all to follow Christ.

Do not allow abominations in your home. They will only open the door to all types of wickedness, havoc, misery, and destruction and allow the evil realm to have authority in your life and the life of those around you.

Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing. Deuteronomy 7:26

And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. Joshua 6:18

If you have ever exposed yourself to the occult, you will need to renounce it, and repent. Then ask God to forgive you and deliver you from any open doors you have given to the enemy. I did this after accepting Christ, because of my involvement with drugs, rock music, and idolatry.

We’ll pick it up here again next time. Until then, may God our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ continually bless and keep you.
