In this study, we are learning faith is not an option. We must walk by faith, live by faith, and continue in the faith to please God (2 Corinthians 5:7, Galatians 2:20, Acts 14:22, Colossians 1:23).
Faith allows us the ability to grasp divine realities in the invisible realm (from God’s Word) and bring them into the natural world. It allows us to possess the promises of God.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The Greek word substance can also be translated “ground” or “confidence,” which give us a clearer understanding of the definition of faith.
In our last post we learned “without faith it is impossible to please Him (God).” (Hebrews 11:6) Therefore walking by faith is vital.
Also, we discovered God gave each of us a measure of faith when we received His Word and believed the ‘Good News’ concerning His Son Jesus Christ. (Romans 12:3)
This is something the apostle Peter echoed when he wrote:
Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 Peter 1:1
The Bible repeatedly states: “The just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38) This is the only way to walk with the Lord, for “we walk by faith, and not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
It does not take faith to believe in something we can see in the physical realm, but it does take faith to believe in that which we have not seen or touched with our natural senses. That is how the Bible heroes of the faith lived.
Next, we will begin looking at examples of these ordinary men and women who accomplished extraordinary achievements through their faith.
Until then, may God our Heavenly Father, richly bless and keep you.
