Receive More Grace

Receive More Grace Although we have touched on various aspects of grace in some of our past articles, I believe it is important to point out there is always more grace available for those who ask. Since we are admonished to grow in grace, we must walk in the grace we have and continue to ask for more. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  Hebrews 4:16 Grace is like fuel from heaven, and we need plenty of it to overcome, walk in victory, and to be more like Christ. The Bible states, God is the God of all grace. That is comforting to know. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 1Peter 5:10 The apostle James said, we have not because we ask not (James 4:2b). Although we are saved by grace, it appears we must ask for continual grace for daily living and empowerment. Paul solemnly stated it was God’s grace that made him successful in ministry. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 1Corinthians 15:10 NKJV Someone might say this grace was an automatic thing and Paul just needed to learn to walk it out. That would be a valid point, but other passages indicate we also need to ask for more grace. How else could we continue to grow in grace? We can only do that by applying the grace we already have, and then going to the Throne of Grace for more. 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 instructs us to covet earnestly the gifts (Charisma) or manifestations of the Spirit. These gifts are manifestations of God’s grace, as we already illustrated in previous series. If having more grace was an automatic and continuous thing, we would not be exhorted to earnestly desire it. But earnestly desire the best gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:31a NKJV Be eager in your pursuit of this Love, and be earnestly ambitious for spiritual gifts…. 1Corinthians 14:1 Weymouth God has given us the privilege of praying, through asking, seeking, and knocking. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 He rewards those who diligently seek Him But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 I encourage you to seek His face for more grace today. He has so much grace to pour into and through our lives, and He is waiting for our participation and invitation through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving.
